# Missing value

**Missing value:** A blank in our data means unknown. It never means zero.

## How we measure it

When a source does not show a value we leave it blank, with a reason where we know one.

## What it is not

It is not zero. A price cut field, for example, is 1 when the listing shows a cut, 0 when the source shows cuts and this listing has none, and blank when the source never shows them.

## Where it appears in the data

Field names as the API returns them; each dataset's page in the API lists the field's type and unit.
